It started with a red dog watching brook trout in a stream.
In 2002 while hiking in the Little Lakes Basin in the Sierra Nevada we came upon a group of hikers with their dogs. Other dogs in the group were running around and splashing in the water. But that sleek red dog went up and down the clear stream, tracking the fish through the reflections. That little vizsla captured our imagination. We were hooked.
In August 2017, we brought Mariposa home to our yellow foursquare house in Rochester, New York, and named her for a little flower that grows in the valley where we were introduced to Vizslas.
We didn’t know it at the time, but that decision would change everything.
